About

Dr. Narain is a board certified ophthalmologist and fellowship trained vitreoretinal specialist. At South Bay Retina he has pioneered new approaches to managing several chronic ocular conditions. His practice focuses on diseases of the posterior segment which include diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, uveitis, as well as inherited retinal diseases and conditions involving the optic nerve such as optic neuritis, glaucoma, and other optic neuropathies.

Dr. Narain utilizes advanced technologies such as wide-field retinal imaging (Optos), high-resolution OCT, electrophysiology, and microperimetry.  By employing these tools, we are able to determine the relative contribution of optic nerve and retinal disease to visual function.  This enables earlier recognition of ocular disease and toxicities from systemic drugs that can affect the retina and optic nerve.

But Graves’ disease is the most common thyroid condition linked to thyroid eye disease, and eye symptoms can show up around the same time as thyroid...

Thyroid Eye Disease Treatment Options: When Lubrication, PROKERA, or TEPEZZA May Help
Thyroid eye disease does not affect everyone the same way. For some people, it begins with dryness, redness, puffiness, and irritation that feel more annoying than alarming. For others, it becomes much more disruptive, with bulging eyes, pressure, double vision, or changes in vision itself. That is why treatment for thyroid eye disease is never one-size-fits-all. The right plan depends on what part of the disease is causing the most trouble: the surface of the eye, the tissues behind the eye,...
